The second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 2450-1972). The revision is based on the Roese-Gottlieb method for milk specified in ISO 1211, comprising a number of modifications to improve the precision of that method. The principle consists in extzracting of an ammonical ethanolic solution of a test portion with diethyl ether and light petroleum, removing of the solvents by distillation or evaporation,and determing of the mass of the substances exrcted which are soluble in light petroleum.
