The guidance describes methods for obtaining conditions for the successful keeping of varieties of Pyrus communis Linnaeus. It includes conditions of harvesting and putting into store, and optimum conditions, such as temperature, relative humidity, air circulation, storagelife, further adjuncts and other keeping processes. Limits of application are given in an annex A. Annex B shows a table with recommended temperatures and the expected storage life for 16 varieties. Annex C summarizes for 7 varieties parameters for controlled-atmosphere storage. Annex D gives recommendations on the role of the growers and on wastage.
