The method consists in mincing of test sample and then maceration of a test portion with a sterile diluent, in a mechanical blender, and preparation of decimal dilutions. Then detection of the presence or absence of Enterobacteriaceae, followed by enumeration of the bacteriaceae by most probable number (MPN) technique.
