This Guide gives 10 principles that have been established by the ISO and IEC Councils for consideration and adoption by the members of the two organizations. The activities of ISO and IEC members in making standards and in operating third party certification systems based on standards are based on the recognized fact that standards are an essential toolof economic activity; standards promote the improvement of production and the increase of trade, international trade, and transfer of technology.
