Specifies material requirements. Some general requirements for the finished joint rings are also given. Particular functional tests shall be specified in national standards. Applicable to all pipeline materials including iron, steel, clay, asbestos-cement, concrete, plastics and glass-reinforced plastics. Not necessarily applicable to joint rings in pipelines for industrial chemical effluents or hot water.
