Strips, about 100 mm wide shall be cut across the width of the material under test at positions 1 m apart in the longitudinal direction of the film or sheeting. The thickness of the strips shall be measured equally spaced at ten points of the strip. The transmission of the measured values may be performed mechnically, optically or electronically. The arithmetic mean of the individual measurements shall bereported to the nearest 1 um as the average mechnically measured thickness of the sample.
