Determines bond defects between the bearing metal and the backing. The test can be performed on plain bearings consisting of backings of steel or cast iron and lined with a bearing metal layer based on lead and tin. In the area between groove and land as well as at oil ducts, the test can only be performed under certain conditions. This test permits only a qualitative evaluation. Describes only the pulse-echo method inwhich the probe is applied from the bearing metal side.
