Is intended to coordinate and to standardize internationally the use of book numbers so that an international standard book number identifies one title, or edition of a title, from one specific publisher, and is unique to that title or edition. An international standard book number consists of ten digits made up to the following parts: group identifier, publisher identifier, title identifier and check digit.
