Establishing of a code ofdesignation for polyamide (PA) homopolymers for moulding and extrusion. The designation system is based on a standardized pattern of a data blocks. It consists of a description block, an identity block comprising the International Standard number and an individual item block, which is sudivided into four data blocks with coded information: No.1: Identifidation of the Polyamide by its symbol (PA); No.2: Position 1: Intended application or method of processing; Position 2 to 4: Important properties, additives or indications; No.3: Designatory properties (coded property levels); No.4: Fillers or reinforcing materials and their content; Lists of codes used in the data blocks are given. Designatory properties of polyamide are viscosity number and tensile modulus of elasticity. Examples of coded designations are given.
