The specifications apply to the measurements of diffuse and projection transmission densities at simulated f-numbers of 4.5 and 1.6. The diffuse density is primarily measured of photographic images to be contact printed, projeteced with a system employing diffuse illumination, or viewed on a transparency illuminator; the projection density, in contrast, is primarily measured of photographic images to be projected with systems employing optical condensers.
