Separating funnels are mainly used in laboratories for liquid extractions, and they are intended to facilitate the separation into layers of two immiscible liquids of different density. Dropping funnels are used for adding reagent solution to a reaction vessel. Following types and their capacities and dimensions are specified: conical, pear-shaped and Gilson type separating funnels and cylindrical and graduated dropping funnels.
