By geometrical checks is meant the checking of dimensions, forms and positions of components, as well as the checking of their displacement relative to one another. By practical test is meant the machining of test pieces appropriate to the fundamental purposes for which the machine has been designed, and having predetermined limits and tolerances. An annex deals with the accuracy of instruments used for testing machine tools.
