The document is chiefly intended to cover the technical provisions for guiding the purchase of the shellac, but does not include all the necessary provisions of the contract. The limits prescribed are limits for rejection. Six grades of hand-made product are specified. The determinationof matter insoluble in hot alcohol, detection of rosin, detection of orpiment, determination of arsenic content, determination of volatile matter content (moisture), determination of colour index, determination of wax, ash and acid value, determination of lead content and of iodine value are described in the annex.
