Based on the measurement of the indentation of a rigid ball into a rubber test piece under specified conditions. To decrease the indentation in the softer rubber a larger indentor should be used than that required for the normal method of ISO 48. The measured indentation is converted into international rubber hardness degrees. The hardness bears the known relation to Young's modulus. Two figures and one table contain additional specifications.
