Specification of requirements for types of single-use transfusion sets in order to ensure compatibility of use with containers for blood and blood components and intravenous catheters and cannulas. The materials and components of the sets are validated by various test methods selected by themanufacturer and, in addition, tests are provided for the release of lots of finished sets. Secondary aims are the provision of specifications relating to the quality and performance of materials used in transfusion sets and a unified presentation of terms and designations on this field.
