Four alternative methods are specified: A: Extraction of a test portion with anhydrous methanol; B: Melting of a test portion under vacuum and collection of the evaporated water in deep-temperature traps in methanol; C: Extraction by dissolution of the test portion in a mixture of 3-methylphenol and toluen; D: Manometric method using the pressure increase by evaporation of the water in vacuum. The extraction methods A, Band C are followed by a Karl Fischer determination of water content. Method C is the reference method.
