If the essential oil is solid or partly solid at ambient temperature it is liquefied by placing in an oven, controlled at an appropriate temperature. During all subsequent operations, the oil shall be kept at the lowest temperature at which it will remain liquid. If the essential oil is liquid at ambient temperature no preceding temperature treatment is necessary. The oil is treated with a dehydrating agent and filtered. Ifnecessary the desiccation must be repeated.
