This measurement is important in the evaluation of compounds for products as hoses, balloons etc. The measurement is also of theoretical importance in the study of characteristics of diffusion and gas solubility in relation to polymer structure. Gives basic directions for the measurement under steady state conditions. Results should not be extrapolated to the thicknesses of material considerably different from that of the test piece. Applies tohardness not less than 35 IRHD. Gases include air, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen etc.
