Specifies the method of Vickers hardness test (test forces from 49,03 to 980.7 N) for metals. Particular International Standards exist for specific materials and/or products (see clause 2). Gives principle, symbols and designations, apparatus, test piece, procedure and test report. Annex A shows the minimum thickness of the test piece in relation to the test force and to the hardness. Annex B gives correction factors when tests are made on spherical surfaces.
