For ageing test the physical properties are determined, then the test pieces are exposed to controlled deteriorating influences of known periods. This is followed by re-measuring the physical properties. Initial and final values are compared. Ageing time and temperature depend on the purpose of the test. This determines the choice between accelerated ageing and simulated service (heat) test. Physical properties includebreaking strength, burst strength and tear strength.
