This document specifies three methods for the measurement with 20 degrees, 60 degrees and 85 degrees geometry. The methods are not suitable for the measurement of the gloss of metallic paints. The 60 degrees geometry method is applicable to all paint films; the 20 degrees geometry method is intended for obtaining improved differentiation ofhigh-gloss paints, the 85 degrees geometry method is intended for obtaining improved differentiation of low-gloss paints. Procedures are given for assessment of a film prepared from a liquid paint sample and for assessment of an existing painted surface.
